In Rollin' with the nines the producers use such close up shots as the one above to draw emphasis towards the main actor. However this shot has specific lighting on the main actor to create a shadow over his eyes which creates a sense of mystery and unknown towards him. This is additionally effective due to the fact that the viewers do not know who he is, so therefore they are unlikely to know who he is or what he is going to do in the film which also adds a sense of depth into the film.
