In Rollin' with the nines the producers use such close up shots as the one above to draw emphasis towards the sub-machine gun. This type of shot is effective as it makes the audience feel as if the actor is pointing the gun directly at us, which furthermore makes us feel like the victims. Also due to the camera being focused on the gun it draws additional emphasis to it as opposed to the actor which has not been focused on.
